Mount Ontake is the second largest volcano in Japan, standing at 3,067 m its last eruption was on the 27th September 2014. The Shinano River is the most famous river in all of Japan. It's the largest and the longest! At 11,900km, it runs from Nagano Prefecture to Niigata Prefecture. On it's route it is joined by numerous smaller rivers including, Sai and Uono rivers, both of which drain small but productive and popular intercontinental basins.
